Q and A
Q: I tend to be very sensitive around my nose area and the Anti-Aging serum seems to make this area red. What should I do.
A: Bonne Chimie’s Anti-Aging serum is very concentrated no matter who it is blended for. We have a high concentration of several very effective anti-aging actives. While this is the only way to truly see results from Anti-Aging serum this concentration may be too much for extra sensitive parts of the face. If you feel it is making a part of your face red and the redness doesn’t go away in a few minutes than avoid placing the serum on that part of the face. Use the facial moisturizing cream that was formulated for you. This product is not as highly concentrated and contains more soothing actives so it should work beautifully on those sensitive areas. Use your Anti-Aging everywhere else for it’s highly effective anti-aging capabilities.
Q: I have heard people who use your products talk about the “Bonne Chimie Glow”, what are they talking about?
A: Look at the celebrities in the magazines or on the screen. See how their skin seems to glow from the inside. It looks very hydrated and health with the perfect amount of natural color on their cheeks. This is a “glow”, something they spend a lot of time getting facials or peels to achieve. Through proper hydration balance and good cell regeneration Bonne Chimie clients are able to achieve that same beautiful, healthy looking glow in their skin.
Q: I am feeling very hydrated with my Bonne Chimie products. Is it possible to be too hydrated?
A: We find that some clients are so used to be dehydrated that any hydration on their skin feels unusual at first.
I’m sure you find that your skin doesn’t feel oily just more moist. Bonne Chimie products are very effective at absorbing into the skin and not lying on the top, this absorption helps us in hydrating the skin.
Remember that it’s normally hydrated skin that is fighting off the affects of aging. Normally hydrated skin can more easily defend itself from the harshness of the environment, sun and other pollutants. So more than likely you are not too hydrated just more hydrated than you are used to. This is a good thing…we strive to get your skin to a naturally normal hydration level.
My recommendation is to wait it out. You will become accustomed to feeling hydrated again. It just takes a little time. If it is absolutely driving you crazy go back to your Bonne Chimie location and your bartender can Perfect your products so we are not adding quite so much hydration at once. This will take longer to hydrate your skin but if it makes you feel more comfortable we can do it, the most important thing is that you continue to use the system so you can achieve that beautiful Bonne Chimie glow!
Q: I have been using the system for a few weeks and love it, but I just noticed a few small blemishes have appeared, am I doing something wrong?
A: My guess is that you are not exfoliating as frequently as you need to. Remember blemishes are dead skin cells blocking pores. You can exfoliate every other day and no less than twice a week, this keeps the dead skin cells off the top of the skin and allows your new cells to be more easily treated. If your blemishes are concentrated in one area, generally on the nose, forehead, or chin, this is probably an area that you can exfoliate more frequently.
Q: I know you say your actives are fresh but how fresh are they really?
A: Well we work with the manufacturers and distributors of our actives to purchase the smallest batches we are able. Then get them into your products as soon as possible. We are not saying nor do we want people to think that we go out every morning and harvest the actives we use in our products. We simply turn the actives as soon as we are able and we don’t have pre-manufactured products sitting in our warehouses or on the department store shelves for months at a time. Our actives go from where they are developed into your products as soon as we are able.
Q: You say your products absorb well, how can it be any different than any other products?
A: We avoid using petroleum and mineral oil in our products. These components tend to block hydrating actives from absorbing into the skin. They form a layer of product at the top of the skin that will not allow other actives to penetrate.
Q: I started using your products a few days ago and love how they make my skin feel but my foundation product is not smoothing on as well as I like.
A: Make sure to let your moisturizer dry completely before smoothing on your foundation product. Also if you are adding several layers of product (such as serum and moisturizer) let both of them dry before adding foundation, you might want to just use one of them during the day and use both of them in the evening.
Q: How quickly can I expect to see a difference in my skin from Bonne Chimie products?
A: You will start to see a textural difference very quickly, the deeper treatment takes some time. You can expect it to take about a month to repair a years worth of damage. So if you haven’t taken care of your skin in a long time it will take a few months to get your skin exactly where you want it to be. The key is patience and commitment, it will get there. The exciting thing is that you will see it getting better and better.
Q: Why do you include a spatula with your jar products?
A: To ensure that bacteria does not build up in the products from fingers dipping into them time after time.
Q: Since you do not use any veiling fragrance in your products I notice that my cleanser has a mediciney smell is this OK.
A: Absolutely, we don’t use any fragrance in our products because we feel they are too harsh for facial skin. But actives all have their own unique smell, and when you don’t cover it up (with veiling fragrances) there are products that tend to let that smell come through. There is nothing wrong with the product and (though we don’t recommend it) we have a few clients that want us to include a couple of drops of vanilla fragrance to their products to help cover that active smell.
Q: How long can I expect the products to last?
A: It really depends on how you use them. Some clients wash their face twice a day, some once. Some clients exfoliate their facial skin every day and others three times a week. All of these factors play a part in how long the products will last. Keeping these things in mind the products on average will last from 2-3 months.
Q: I was surprised that your products were blended by hand, how does that work?
A: Our Base products have been developed so that manual hand blending is effective. We found an electric blended is too harsh for the products and actually changes the sheerness of the products, plus damages some of the actives. Hand blending is effective and gentle enough for delicate actives.
Q: I have been exfoliating everyday and have noticed a few whiteheads on my cheek area, I also feel too dry, what should I do?
A: First stop exfoliating everyday; try every other day or three times a week. If you are still feeling dry you may want to have your products “Perfected”, they may need to have more hydrators added. Whiteheads are another form of acne (closed comedones) that appears as small white bumps under the skin. They can be caused by the red dyes used in blush products so the fact that they are appearing only on your cheek area might mean that because you are dry your skin is more susceptible to those red dyes. Exfoliation also regenerates your skin so you are working with newer, younger skin cells coming to the top which are much more delicate, therefore you may have a greater probability of irritation. You may want to consider a mineral blush and foundation product.
